During the year 1996 Crime Detachment Unit was formed in Kozhikode City vide GO(Rt)No457/96 Home. Dtd.20/2/1996. But as per GO (MS) No.124/2014 HOME Dtd.17-06-2014 the Crime Detachment Unit was re-designated as District Crime Branch. The unit is functioning at 3rd floor of CPO new building situated at Mananchira, Kozhikode City.
The unit is functioning under the direct supervision of District Police Chief, Kozhikode City. The DCB unit is conducting investigation of crimes, enquiries on petitions and other important matters entrusted by superior offices. ACP DCB is the Nodal Officer of the projects like Operation Kubera, DMPTU, CARE, Video Piracy, Illegal sales Lottery, Subhayatra and maintaining process received from Family Court etc.
District Women Cell, District Juvenile Wing are under the supervision of ACP DCB.
