Kozhikode District Armed Reserve Camp, which was functioning near the City Police Office, Kozhikode City shifted to Maloorkunnu during the year of 1977. Maloorkunnu is situated about 1 Km away from Chevayur Police station, which is on Kozhikode Wayanad Road. Before the formation of Kozhikode district, the Armed Reserve was the Malabar district on the part of Western Region of Ootacamund. Sri. Devaraj Menon was the first Commandant of District Armed Reserve Kozhikode City, Later the post was re-designated as Deputy Commandant Sri KG Peethambran Pillai was the first Deputy Commandant of Kozhikode City AR.
