HOPE PROJECT

Helping others to promote education under sociel policing division  of kerela police

When the majority of students pass Class X and PLUS TWO examinations and good percentage of them gets A+ and are respected by the public, no one cares about the losers or the reasons why they fail. Like winners, losers are also part of society. History shows that many students are lagging behind in their studies at the school level and that they have returned to education and performed great miracles in the world. Realizing this reality, the purpose of the "Hope" project is to ensure the physical, mental and social health of children and to elevate them to the mainstream of the society.

Students who are trained under HOPE, a project of Kerala Police with the support of Government, Non-Governmental organizations and Public have bagged excellent marks in the SSLC and PLUS TWO Examinations. P Vijayan, IGP and State Nodal Officer, HOPE has stated that out of 333 students trained under this project, 302 students have been qualified for higher studies

Hope project envisages helping children to complete their primary education through language learning and vocational training, ensuring their role and dignity in the family and community and preventing them from engaging in unhealthy behavioural and emotional changes. The importance of the HOPE scheme implemented by the Kerala Police underscores the potential for healthy tendencies in young people, such as those involved in 10th class failures, to commit crimes and spread cannabis. During the last year, 140 students were identified in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Kozhikode districts and training was imparted to improve the quality of education of the children through various interventions, out of which 115 students were admitted to SSLC. They passed the examination and qualified for higher education. Based on this, it has been decided to extend the scheme to all the districts of the state.

Sri. P Vijayan, IGP has stated that the project will be modified to cover 2000 students who need care and security. Additional SPs will be nominated as Nodal Officers in all police districts for the efficient implementation of the project. A list of special trainers will be prepared in all districts. All facilities will be arranged for students in HOPE who qualified for higher studies. Skill training will also be given to these students with the support of various agencies.
